The ministre de l’Emploi, travail et prévoyance sociale of the RDC (République Démocratique du Congo), Claudine Ndusi M'Kembe, has declared Saturday, December 25, 2021, and Saturday, January 1, 2022, as a non-working public holidays in the RDC on account of the upcoming Christmas and New Year public holidays.

The aforementioned announcement, contained in the Communiqué Officiel No.006/CAB/MIN/ETPS/CNM/AM/12/2021 reads: "Il est porté à la connaissance de la population congolaise en général et du monde du travail en particulier, que conformément aux prescrits de l'Ordonnance n°14/010 du 14 mai 2014 fixant les jours fériés légaux en République démocratique du Congo, les journées des samedis 25 Décembre 2021 et 1er Janvier 2022, consacrées respectivement aux festivités de Noël et de Nouvel An, sont déclarées chômées et payées sur toute l'étendue du territoire national".

The declaration of Saturday, December 25, 2021, and Saturday, January 1, 2022, as public holidays, in the République Démocratique du Congo, is in line with the previously-announced, annual list of the non-working public holidays in the DRC for the calendar year 2021 (2021-01-06).

Note that, contrary to what happens when a DRC public holiday falls on a Sunday (2021-07-29, 2021-01-11, 2020-05-14, 2019-06-26, 2016-04-28, 2016-01-14, 2015-05-12 and 2010-01-15), no compensatory public holiday is usually given in the DRC when a public holiday falls on a Saturday, as is the case for Christmas 2021 and the New Year 2022.
