Guatemala's Ministry of Labour and Social Security (Mintrab) has announced that the upcoming annual, October 20, public holiday of Guatemala, would be observed mid-week, on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, and would not be moved to adjoin a nearby weekend ("el asueto del 20 de octubre del 2021, deberá ser gozado ese mismo miércoles, y no se traslada a ningún otro día").

The aforementioned announcement that the upcoming Revolution Day public holiday would be observed on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, is in line with the revised list of 2021 Guatemala public holidays, originally announced last autumn (2020-11-13) and in line with last year's ruling by Guatemala's Constitutional Court (2020-04-16), removing the May 1st and October 20 public holidays from the scope of the 2018 Law of Internal Tourism (2018-10-11, 2018-09-26 and 2018-08-09) which, through the Decreto 19-2018, had previously mandated that the May 1st, June 30th and October 20th, annual public holidays, when falling on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays or Sundays, should be moved to the working day immediately before or after the weekend.
