Kerala 2022 Public Holidays Announced

Yesterday, the Government of India's state of Kerala, via the G. O. (P) No. 29/2021/GAD., dated Thiruvananthapuram, 21 October, 2021, announced its 2022 list of "Public Holidays to the Public Offices under the Government of Kerala during the Calendar year 2022" and "Restricted Holidays".

The aforementioned notification is contained in a G.O.(P), signed on behalf of the Governor, by the Principal Secretary to Government, K. R. Jyothilal, as in previous years (2020-11-27, 2019-11-07, 2018-10-20, 2017-10-13, 2016-11-17, 2014-11-04, 2010-10-04).

Also as usual, the Government Order specifies that "The following festivals/occasions which falls on Public Holidays (Second Saturday/Sunday) may be avoided from the above list.".

The list of restricted holidays is quite limited; Ayya Vaikunda Swami
Jayanthi on March 12 ("Government- Quasi Government and Public Sector Undertaking Employees and Teachers belonging to Nadar Community"), Avani Avittom on August 11 ("Government Employees belonging to Brahmin Community"), and Vishwakarma day on September 17 ("Government- Quasi Government and Public Sector Undertaking Employees and Teachers belonging to Vishwakarma Community").
