The General Administration Department of the Government of India's state of Maharashtra has announced its annual list of the days which will be non-working public holidays in India's state of Maharashtra for the upcoming calendar year 2022 in the Government Notification No. PHO. 1121/C.R. 97/Desk-29.
As per the aforementioned Government Notification, "In exercise of the powers entrusted to it by the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs vide its Notification No.39/I/68/JUDI-3, dated the 8th May 1968, the Government of Maharashtra hereby declares the following days as Public Holidays in the State of Maharashtra during the calendar year 2022.".
The notification also mentions 8 Maharashtra public holidays that are traditionally observed in Maharashtra, but which fall on a Sunday in 2021 ("The following Holiday's falls on Saturday and Sunday"), namely: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti, Gudhi Padwa, Ram Navami, Maharashtra Din, Bakri ID (Id-Uz-Zuha), Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, Id-E-Milad, Christmas.
Finally, the Notification of 2022 public holidays in the Indian state of Maharashtra lists April 1st, 2022, "To enable to Banks to close their yearly accounts", separately, as a bank holiday ("Above holiday is limited for the Banks only. This holiday is not admissible to the Government Offices.").
Subsequent amendments to the list of 2022 public holidays in Maharashtra are always possible (2021-10-22).
