Maldives Eid al-Adha and Independence Day Public Holidays July 18-29

Maldives President, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, has declared 2 additional government public holidays, on Wednesday and Thursday, July 28-29, 2021, following the already declared government holidays for the Eid al-Adha and the Independence Day public holidays.
As per the aforementioned declaration, "the two days are being declared as government holidays to ease travel plans for government employees and to allow continuity of the holiday".
Recall that the 2021 the Eid al-Adha and Independence Day public holidays were already extended once, last year (2020-12-27), when President Solih declared 2 one-off public holidays, on July 18 and 25, 2021, well in advance of said dates, with the President’s Spokesperson, Ibrahim Hood, commenting that "changes to the official calendar are announced months in advance for the public’s convenience".
The official list of 2021 public holidays in the Maldives (2021-01-08), when combined with both extensions to the 2021 Eid al-Adha and the Independence Day public holidays, and the July 16-17 weekend, mean a 14-day period of national holidays with "government re-opening on Sunday, 01 August 2021".
