Moldova Declares 5-Day Public Holidays In August 2021

Moldova's Cabinet has decided to declare Monday, August 30, 2021, as a one-off public sector holiday to bridge the one-day gap between the Tuesday, August 31, 2021, National Language Day public holiday, and the preceding weekend, which is itself immediately preceded by the Friday, August 27, 2021, Independence Day public holiday.
A few weeks ago, we had reported that Moldova's Cabinet was to consider a draft decision to declare Monday, August 30, 2021, to create a period of 5 consecutive days of public holidays in Moldova, from August 27-31, inclusively (2021-05-20).
As per that Cabinet decision, the August 20, 2021, public holiday is declared for the public sector, and is only a recommendation for private sector employees ("Pentru angajații din sectorul privat, hotărârea are caracter de recomandare").
The declaration of Monday, August 30, 2021, as a one-off public sector holidays in Moldova, is in addition to the list of 2021 annual non-working public holidays in Moldova (2020-12-11).
A few years ago, Moldova's Cabinet had similarly declared Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, August 28-29-30, 2018, as a one-off bridge public sector holidays in Moldova to link one weekend and the annual August 27 public holiday and the next weekend and the annual August 31 public holiday of Moldova (2020-11-26).
