The State Administration Council of the government of Myanmar has extended the public holiday order No.211/2021 by declaring an additional seven-day period of public holidays, to run from Monday, July 26, until Sunday, August 1st, 2021, "to effectively prevent the spread of COVID-19 among the public ".

Last week (2021-07-14), the State Administration Council had similarly issued the order No.211/2021 declaring a nine-day period of consecutive public holidays, to run from Saturday, July 17, until Sunday, July 25, 2021, "for the prevention, control and treatment of COVID-19".

Today's Covid-19 public holidays extension thus further extends (2021-07-23 and 2020-12-09) the initial list of 2021 bank holidays and public holidays, as released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the government of Myanmar, this past summer (2020-07-31).

The aforementioned Covid-19 public holidays extension, however, will not apply to the Central Bank of Myanmar, government banks under its operation, and private banks.
