The State Administration Council of the government of Myanmar has once more extended the current running string of Covid-19 public holidays until the end of August.

The initial order No.211/2021, released by the State Administration Council, had declared a nine-day period of consecutive public holidays, to run until Sunday, July 25, 2021 (2021-07-14).

That initial period of public holidays was then further extended many times; until Sunday, August 1st, 2021 (2021-07-23), until Sunday, August 8, 2021 (2021-08-01), until Sunday, August 15, 2021 (2021-08-08), and most recently until Sunday, August 22, 2021 (2021-08-12).

None of the first 3 extensions applied to the Central Bank of Myanmar, government banks under its operation, and private banks. But, the last extension did apply to banks.

The initial list of 2021 bank holidays and public holidays was released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the government of Myanmar last summer (2020-07-31) and already had been extended once at the end of 2020 (2020-12-09).
