Nepal Declares Gaijatra and Krishna Janmashtami Public Holidays

Nepali Government Spokesperson and Law Minister, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, has announced that Nepal's cabinet had declared a public holiday throughout the country, on Monday, August 30, 2021, on account of the upcoming Krishna Janmashtami which celebrates the birthday of Lord Krishna.

The aforementioned announcement also indicated that a public holiday had been declared in the Kathmandu Valley, and for the Newar community across the country, on account of the upcoming Gaijatra on Monday, August 23, 2021.

The list of gazetted public holidays in Nepal for the Nepalese year 2078 (April 2021-April 2022), was published last spring (2021-04-02), and does include some regional public holidays (2021-06-28, 2021-06-26, 2021-04-23, 2021-04-20, 2021-01-17 and 2020-11-19).
