Nepal Karnali Province Declares June 29 National Paddy Public Holiday

The Council of Ministers of Nepal's Karnali Province has announced that it had declared tomorrow, Tuesday, June 29, 2021, as a public holiday and that "all government offices, banks and financial institutions, and educational institutions will remain closed on Tuesday".

As per the spokesperson of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law of the Karnali Province, Krishna Bahadur Rokaya, "the provincial government has decided to give a public holiday on the occasion to encourage the farmers".

National Paddy Day is observed annually, on Asadh 15, as per the Nepalese Bikram Sambat calendar.

Such regional public holidays (2021-06-26, 2021-04-23, 2021-04-20, 2021-01-17 and 2020-11-19) were not included in last spring's (2021-04-02) gazetted list of official non-working public holidays in Nepal for the Nepalese Bikram Sambat year 2078 (April 2021-April 2022).
