Nicaraguan Vice President, Rosario Murillo, has declared the period from September 11-19, 2021, as public holidays for Nicaragua's state workers ("In commemoration of the 2021 bicentennial national holidays, we go on vacation, decreeing a holiday with pay as of September 10, that is, Friday at the end of the work day, and we close the period on Sunday 19, for all State workers").

The annual September 14 and 15 public holidays of Nicaragua commemorate the Battle of San Jacinto and Nicaragua's Independence from Spain.

And the year before that, the Saturday and Sunday, September 14-15, 2019, non-working public holidays of Nicaragua had been extended by 2 days, Monday and Tuesday, September 16 and 17, 2019 (2019-09-12 and 2019-09-06).
