Nigerian 61st Independence Anniversary Public Holiday

The Minister of Interior of Nigeria, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has announced that the Government of Nigeria had declared Friday, October 1, 2021, as a public holiday to commemorate Nigeria’s 61st Independence Anniversary.

The aforementioned declaration of Friday, October 1, 2021, as a non-working public holiday throughout Nigeria is contained in a statement signed by the permanent secretary of the ministry, Shuaib Belgore.

October 1, 2021, falling on a weekday, there was no need for the declaration of a day in lieu public holiday, as was the case in some past years (2017-09-27, 2016-09-29, 2015-09-28, 2014-09-25, 2013-09-24, 2012-09-28, 2011-09-26 and 2010-09-23).
