The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced bank holidays throughout Pakistan on August 18 and 19, 2021, on the occasion of the annual Ashura bank holiday.
The aforementioned declaration of bank holidays on the 9th and 10th Muharram-ul-Haram follows yesterday's announcement by the Interior Ministry of the federal government of Pakistan, that a second day of public holiday had been declared on account of the upcoming Ashura (2021-08-13).
Today's announcement by the State Bank of Pakistan thus further amends the list of 2021 public holidays in Pakistan, as announced in the "expected dates for public and optional holidays for the calendar year 2021" published by the Government of Pakistan late last year (2020-12-10), and later amended (2021-05-03).
