Paraguay Public Sector Holidays December 24 and 31

Paraguay's president, Mario Abdo Benítez, has released the executive decree No.6500 declaring Friday, December 24, and Friday, December 31, 2021, as one-off public sector holidays in Paraguay.

The Decree 6500 reads in its preamble: "Considerando que el artículo 238, numeral 1) faculta a quien ejerce la Presidencia de la República a dirigir la administración general del país." and "Que las celebraciones de la Navidad y el Año Nuevo son festividades de gran tradición y significación para el pueblo paraguayo.".

The Decree 6500 then announces "Declárase asueto el 24 y 31 de diciembre de 2021. para los funcionarios de la Administración Pública y Entidades Deseentrai izadas.".

This decree applies to "funcionarios de la Administración Pública y Entidades Descentralizadas del Estado", and is in addition to the list of annual non-working public holidays in Paraguay for 2021.

Year-end public sector holidays have often been declared in Paraguay in the past (2020-12-23, 2019-12-10, 2018-12-22, 2018-12-11 and 2017-11-21).
