Earlier today Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte signed Proclamation No.1107, s.2021, which removes 3 dates from the previously-announced lists of special and regular non-working public holidays in the Philippines for the calendar year 2021, namely All Soul’s Day, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
The aforementioned Proclamation No.1107, s.2021 thus amends the terms of the Proclamation No. 986, s. 2020, which listed the 2021 Philippines special and regular non-working public holidays, signed by Philippines President, Rodrigo Duterte, last summer (2020-08-03).
According to President Duterte, Proclamation No.1107, s.2021 and the 3 canceled public holidays on November 2, December 24 and 31, were necessary as Filipinos "needed to recover from the adverse economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic".
