The government of Sénégal has declared Wednesday, July 21, 2021, as the date of the upcoming Aïd El Kébir (Feast of Sacrifice) public holiday, following the announcement by the National Moon-Sighting Commission of Sénégal (Commission nationale d'observation du croissant lunaire - CNOCL) that the Feast of Sacrifice of Senegal would be on Wednesday, July 21, 2021.
As often happens (2015-09-17, 2014-09-26, 2013-10-09, 2011-08-30 and 2007-12-18), though not always (2020-07-23 and 2019-08-03), other Senegalese Muslim communities, such as the Coordination des musulmans de Dakar, have announced that they would not follow the recommendations of the CNOCL, and would instead, observe the upcoming Aïd El Kébir on Tuesday, July 20, 2021.
