Sri Lanka's State Minister of Home Affairs, Chamal Rajapaksa, has signed and published in the "Gazette of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka" (No. 2227/16), the official list of the Poya Day non-working public holidays in Sri Lanka for the upcoming calendar year 2022.
The preamble to the aforementioned gazette entry read as follows: "By virtue of the powers vested in me by Section 8 of the Holidays Act, No. 29 of 1971, I, Chamal Rajapaksa, State Minister of Home Affairs, do by this order declare that, as regards the year 2022, each of the days specified in the Schedule hereto shall be Full Moon Poya Days for the purpose of this Act.".
Recall that, as per the Holidays Act, Section 2., Declaration regarding Full Moon Poya Days and Sundays, (Volume IV - Laws of Sri Lanka) "It is hereby declared that every Full Moon Poya Day and every Sunday - (a) shall be a public holiday; and (b) shall be a Bank holiday".
