Taiwan's Ministry of the Interior has announced that, in accordance with the "Implementation Measures for Memorial Days and Holidays" regulations (紀念日及節日實施辦法), March 1st, 2021, would be a public holiday in Taiwan, as the annual 228 public holiday falls on a Sunday, in 2021 (因為228剛好是周日,所以順延一日在3月1日補假).

In its statement, the Ministry of the Interior pointed out that "if the national holiday falls on a Saturday, the previous working day will be compensated, usually Friday. If the national holiday falls on a Sunday, the next working day will be compensated, usually Monday." (若國定假日逢周六,於前一個上班日(一般是周五)補假,若國定假日逢周日,則在次一個上班日補假(一般就是周一)).

The list of 2021 public holidays in Taiwan was released by the General Administration of Personnel and Administration of Taiwan's Executive Yuan, late last spring (2020-05-28), in time to meet the 2013 regulations which obligate the Directorate General of Personnel Administration to announce the national holiday calendar for the following year, before June 1st (2013-05-31).

Note that that deadline, for the announcement of the following years list of national and public holidays, has not always been respected in past years (2019-05-01, 2018-07-02, 2017-06-06, 2016-04-13, 2015-10-15 and 2014-06-12).
