Tamil Nadu Electoral Public Holidays October 6 and 9

The Government of India's state of Tamil Nadu has declared paid public holidays on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, for the 1st phase of elections and the second phase of ordinary elections in Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Vellore, Ranipet, Tirupathur, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Tirunelveli and Tenkasi, as well as on Saturday, October 9, 2021, for the casual election to rural local bodies in other twenty-eight districts.

The aforementioned Government of Tamil Nadu vide notification letter No. 17048/J1/2021-2 goes on to state that "employers are directed to declare paid holiday on the polling day 6th October 2021 and 9th October 2021 to allow employees to cast their vote for Gram Panchayat elections in the state of Tamil Nadu".

The vide notification letter No. 17048/J1/2021-2 thus further amends (2021-03-16, 2021-01-05, 2020-11-25 and 2020-11-24) the list of Tamil Nadu 2021 public holidays (Government Order Ms. No.554 - "Public Holidays under Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 for the State Government Offices and all Commercial Banks including Co-operative Banks in Tamil Nadu for the year 2021") as released a year ago (2020-10-29).
