The Government of India's state of Tamil Nadu has released the Government Order Ms.No.160 declaring an electoral public holiday on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 ("Holidays - Public Holiday - General Elections to Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly 2021 and Bye-Election to Lok Sabha from 39 Kanniyakumari Parliamentary Constituency-Declaration of the poll day 06.04.2021 as Public Holiday - Notified").
The Government Order Ms.No.160, which states that "The Election Commission of India has notified 06.04.2021 (Tuesday) as the poll day for the General Elections to Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly 2021 and Bye-Election to Lok Sabha from 39 Kanniyakumari Parliamentary Constituency, in Tamil Nadu. 06.04.2021 (Tuesday) has to be declared as public holiday under section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 (Central Act XXVI of 1881).".
The Government Order Ms.No.160 further amends (2021-01-05, 2020-11-25 and 2020-11-24) the list of Tamil Nadu 2021 public holidays (Government Order Ms. No.554 - "Public Holidays under Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 for the State Government Offices and all Commercial Banks including Co-operative Banks in Tamil Nadu for the year 2021") as released a few months ago (2020-10-29).
