Thailand's Culture Minister, Itthiphol Kunplome, has announced that the Thai Cabinet, at its last meeting, had approved the declaration of Monday, April 12, 2021, as a special public holiday, to extend the upcoming Songkran for 6 consecutive days.

Today's announcement seems to confirm the announcement by Thailand's Deputy government spokesperson, Traisuree Taisaranakul, late last year (2020-12-29), that the Thai Cabinet had approved a list of 8 additional national public holidays and regional public holidays for the upcoming calendar year 2021, "to stimulate tourism", thus amending the previously-released list of 2021 Thai public holidays (2020-09-23).
