The government of Timor Leste has announced that it had once again decided to declare an additional day-off public sector holiday in Timor Leste on Friday, August 20, 2021 ("Point tolerance on August 20, 2021 - FALINTIL Day").
The aforementioned announcement justifies the declaration of a public sector holiday in Timor Leste on Friday, August 20, 2021, as "paragraph b) of n. the 1 of article 5 of Law no. the 10/2005, August 10, amended by Law No. the 3/2016 of 25 May, establishes the August 20 as Day of the Armed Forces of National Liberation of East Timor" and "paragraph a) of n. the 2 of article 7 of Law no. the 10/2005, August 10, amended by Law No. the 3/2016, of May 25th, provides that the point allowance may be granted on the occasion of an official commemorative date".
A decade ago (2010-08-18), the government of Timor Leste had declared Friday, August 20, 2010, the date of the 35th anniversary of the Armed Forces for the National Liberation of Timor-Leste (FALINTIL) as a one-off public holiday.
The aforementioned law No.10/2005, referred to above by the Secretariat of State of the Council of Ministers, overhauled Timor Leste's public holidays (2005-08-12) and is in addition to the list of official public holidays in Timor Leste for the calendar year 2021, which was announced at the beginning of this year (2021-01-15).
