Tonga's Prime Minister's Office has issued a communiqué confirming that the upcoming Emancipation Day annual non-working public holiday of Tonga, would be observed on Monday, June 7, 2021, as per the "Public Holidays (Amendment) Act 2010" (Act No. 10 of 2010).
The aforementioned announcement, as was the case last year (2020-12-02), quotes the part of the "Public Holidays (Amendment) Act 2010" (Act No. 10 of 2010) which specifies that "When any public holiday falls upon a Tuesday or Wednesday, the public holiday will be observed on the Monday before the actual day", and is in line with Tonga's Ministry of Information and Communications communiqué announcing the official list of non-working public holidays in Tonga for the calendar year 2021, announced late last year (2020-10-29), and with the terms of the "Public Holidays (Amendment) Act 2010" as it amends the public holidays legislation of Tonga (2010-05-19 and 2010-04-08).
