The Venezuelan regulatory body for the banking sector, Sudeban (Superintendencia de Instituciones del Sector Bancario) has announced that Friday, October 1, 2021, would be a one-off bank holiday in Venezuela, on account of the upcoming monetary reconversion, whereby 6 zeros will be removed from all currency.

The aforementioned announcement that Friday, October 1, 2021, would be a one-off bank holiday in Venezuela, is in addition to the official list of the dates for the 2021 public holidays and banking holidays in Venezuela as announced last autumn by the Sudeban (2020-10-15).

Recall that, 3 years ago, Monday, August 20, 2018, was similarly declared a one-off non-working public holiday in Venezuela to ease the transition to the new currency named the “Sovereign Bolivar” (2018-08-14), thus also amending the official list of the dates for the 2018 public holidays and banking holidays in Venezuela (2017-07-01).
