Assam Moves Magh Bihu Public Holiday To January 14

The Government of India's state of Assam has issued the Government Order No.GAG(B).81/2016/Pt/307 moving the date of the upcoming Magh Bihu public holiday in Assam State from January 15 to January 14, 2022 ("Notification- Corrigendum regarding holiday on 14th January on account of Maghu Bihu dtd 12-01-2022").

That Government Order No.GAG(B).81/2016/Pt/307 reads as follows, "Please read 14h January, 2022 instead of 15h January, 2022 as Gazetted Holiday on account of Magh Bihu under Section 25 of NIl. Aet. 188 (XXIV of 181) read with the Government of India Ministry of Home Affairs Notification No.20/25/Pub-l dated 8h June 1957, already notified vide this Department's earlier Notification No. GAG(A). 81/2016/749 dated 28th October. 2021." and goes on to inform that "All financial Institutions under State Government o Assam will remain closed on 14th January, 2022 instead of 1sth January, 2022 under N.I. Act.".

The aforementioned moving of the upcoming Magh Bihu public holiday to January 14, 2022, further amends (2022-01-04, 2021-12-30, 2021-12-07 and 2021-12-04) the list of 2022 Assam public holidays as released in the Government Notification No.GAG(A).81/2016/749 (2021-10-30).
