The Fédération des associations islamiques du Burkina (FAIB) has announced that the new Moon of the month of Shawwal had been sighted tonight in the localities of Kantchari, Bobo, Batié, Sebba, Ouahigouya, Dori, and Bittou, and therefore that the upcoming Korité public holiday, marking the end of the month of Ramadan, would be observed on Monday, May 2, 2022, in the Burkina Faso.
The aforementioned communiqué is in line with the previously-released list of official non-working public holidays in Burkina Faso for the calendar year 2022, as announced by the government of Burkina Faso earlier this year (2022-01-09).
Once again, the Korité public holiday of Burkina Faso will conflict with another public holiday, namely this year's day in lieu public holiday for the May 1st Labour Day which falls on a Sunday.
Recall that, last year, Thursday, May 13, 2021, was already a public holiday in the Burkina Faso, for Ascension, as well as the announced date for the 2021 Korité public holiday of Burkina Faso (2021-05-11).
