Chad's ministre de la Fonction publique, de l’Emploi et du Dialogue sociale, Brah Mahamat, has issued a communiqué declaring Tuesday, March 8, 2028, a as public holiday in the Chad, on account of the upcoming International Women's Day.

As is usually the case (2021-11-30, 2021-05-12, 2021-04-30, 2020-12-24, 2020-11-30 and 2019-11-26), the aforementioned announcement goes on to state that "Par ailleurs, le 9 mars toutes les travailleuses et travailleurs sont priés d’être à leur poste" to quash any hope that a second public holiday would be declared on Wednesday, March 9, 2022.

Recall that, 3 years ago (2019-03-07), Chad's then President, Idriss Déby, signed the "décret 273 du 7 mars 2019 portant modification de l’article 2 de celui N° 413 du 30 septembre 1997" implementing his earlier promise that International Women's Day, on March 8, would henceforth be an annual non-working public holiday in Chad (2018-03-30).

The declaration of International Women's Day as a new annual non-working public holiday in Chad represented the first change to Chad's public holidays for almost a decade (2011-08-10), apart from the declaration of one-off public holiday (2013-07-04, 2013-05-12, 2011-08-06, 2011-05-04, 2010-11-08).
