The ministre nationale de l’emploi, travail et prévoyance sociale of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Claudine Ndusi N’kembe, has released a communiqué declaring Saturday, April 30, 2022, as a public holiday in the DRC on account of May 1st, 2022, falling on a Sunday in 2022.

The aforementioned announcement, signed by Labour Minister Claudine Ndusi N'kembe, states that "Je rappelle au public en général et aux organisations professionnelles patronales et ouvrières en particulier, que la journée du 1er mai 2022, consacrée à la fête internationale du travail, jour férié légal en République démocratique du Congo, est chômée et payée" and goes on to state that "La journée du 1er mai tombant un dimanche, celle du samedi 30 avril 2022 est donc retenue comme journée chômée et payée sur toute l’étendue du territoire national ".

The declaration of Saturday, April 30, 2022, as a public holiday in the DRC is in line with the previously-announced, annual list of the non-working public holidays in the DRC for the calendar year 2022 (2022-01-04), as opposed to last year (2021-04-29), when Minister N'kembe declared an additional public holiday on Friday, April 30, 2021, in a marked departure from the previously-announced list of 2021 public holidays in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (2021-01-06).
