Honduras Presidential Inauguration Public Holiday January 27

The Secretary of State in the offices of the Interior, Justice and Decentralization of the government of Honduras has decreed a one-off non-working public sector holiday on Thursday, January 27, 2022, on the date of the upcoming inauguration of the recently-elected President of Honduras, Iris Xiomara Castro de Zelaya.

As per the aforementioned communique, "A holiday is granted on Thursday, January twenty-seven (27) of this year, to all officials and employees of the Executive Power who work in Tegucigalpa and Comayagüela, by virtue of the protocol acts of Inauguration of the Constitutional President of the Republic, Mrs. Iris Xiomara Castro de Zelaya”." and the Secretary of State went on to specify that "Employees must return to work on Friday, January 28 at their normal hours".

Iris Xiomara Castro de Zelaya was elected President of Honduras, late last year, and Monday, November 29, 2021, the day after the election, was also decreed a one-off non-working public sector holiday (2021-11-24), as is usually the case in Honduras (2017-11-24, 2013-11-19, 2009-11-25 and 2009-11-27).
