Kurdistan Public Holiday For 19th Anniversary of Sadam's Fall

The Regional Government of the Kurdistan province of Iraq (KRG) has announced that it had declared Saturday, April 9, 2022, as a public holiday to mark the 19th anniversary of Ba'ath regime's fall.

Though nominally still a part of Iraq, Kurdistan has benefited from a large dose of de facto independence since 1990 and legally since the 2005 constitution.

April 9 was added to the list of Kurdistan public holidays in 2007 (2007-04-07) but April 9th was observed by the entirety of Iraq a few times as well (2008-04-08).
