The New Zealand Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment has released an annotated list of the previously-released New Zealand public holidays for the years 2022-2023-2024, in particular with respect to provincial anniversary days.

The initial list of New Zealand 2022 public holidays was released (2018-09-15) and then updated twice (2021-02-06 and 2021-07-02).

New Zealand public holidays for 2023 and 2024 were announced together last year (2021-05-21) and then amended last summer (2021-07-08).

As the New Zealand Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment website states, "Provincial Anniversary Days are observed locally by custom and practice, and are generally prescribed by regional or city councils. These provinces relate to the former provinces of 19th century New Zealand and are not determined by present-day districts or regions.".

The aforementioned annotated list of 2022-2023-2024 public holidays focuses in on the Otago Anniversary ("As there is no easily determined single day of local observance for Otago, the employee and employer should rely on either their employment agreement or their own custom and practice. Where there is no clear custom and practice, they should try and agree on how they will observe Anniversary Day.") and the Southland Anniversary ("In 2011, the three southern mayors decided Southland Anniversary Day would be celebrated on Easter Tuesday.").
