The head of the Civil Cabinet of the Presidency of Paraguay, Hernán Huttemann, has announced that the upcoming Peace of Chaco public holiday would not be moved from Sunday, June 12, 2022, to Monday, June 13, 2022.
Recall that Paraguay's President, Mario Abdo Benítez, declared a non-working public sector holiday on May 2, 2022, due to the annual May 1st public holiday falling on a Sunday, in 2022 (2022-04-26).
This led the government to then analyze the possibility of moving the May 15 Independence Day and Mother's Day public holiday from Sunday, May 15, 2022, to Monday, May 16, 2022 (2022-04-29), though the idea was later dropped (2022-05-03).
Law 1723 of 2001 authorizes the Paraguayan Executive Branch to transfer national public holidays, except for certain public holidays (2001-06-29). The list of such moved public holidays in 2022 was announced, earlier this year (2022-02-04).
Last year (2021-09-10), the Government of Paraguay had moved the same Paz del Chaco and Victoria de Boquerón public holiday from its set date of September 29, 2021, to Monday, September 27, 2021.
