The Government of the Indian State of Punjab has published the Government Order No.180-JK(GAD) of 2022, which declares Sunday, February 20, 2022, as a paid public holiday on account of the upcoming assembly polls in the state of Punjab ("Declaration of paid holiday for the voters of Punjab Vidhan Sabha Elections, 2022, working in the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir").
As per the aforementioned announcement, signed by the Principal Secretary to the Government, Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, reads as follows "In terms of Section 135-B of the Representation of People Act, 1951, sanction is hereby accorded to the grant of paid holiday in favour of Government employees/Semi Government employees/Industrial Workers, who are registered voters in the State of Punjab and are working in Jammu and Kashmir, for casting their vote on the day of poll i.e. 20.02.2022, on account of General Elections to the Punjab Vidhan Sabha.".
The aforementioned declaration of Sunday, February 20, 2022, as a public holiday in Punjab, thus amends the previously-released annual list of "the days which will be non-working public holidays in India's state of Punjab for the upcoming calendar year 2022", as contained in the Punjab Government Order 06/01/2021/2PP3/1372 issued by the Government of Punjab late last year (2021-12-10).
