Romania Mulls Day In Lieu Public Holidays

Source: Senatului României (Bucharest)

A legislative initiative by 26 PNL deputies and two PSD deputies proposes that Romanian public holidays falling on a Saturday or Sunday be compensated with a day in lieu public holiday on the next working day.

A few years ago, a similar draft bill was introduced to amend article 139 of the Labor Code by declaring day in lieu public holidays whenever a fixed-date annual non-working public holiday of Romania falls on a weekend, or at the very least, a Sunday (2019-10-08).

But that bill never made it into law.
