Saudi Arabia's Minister of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD), Ahmad Suliman Al-Rajhi, has confirmed that the recently-announced new annual Founding Day of Saudi Arabia public holiday, on February 22, will be an official holiday for all in public and private sectors.

Earlier this week, we reported that Saudi Arabia's King, Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, had issued a royal decree declaring February 22 as a new annual public holiday to be observed on February 22 as the nation’s Founding Day (2022-01-27).

Note that in the case of the only other Saudi public holiday based on the Gregorian calendar, the National Day public holiday, is often extended with a day in lieu public holiday, when September 23 falls on a Friday or Saturday, or with a bridge public holiday, when September 23 is a Monday or Wednesday (2021-09-13, 2020-09-08, 2019-09-05 and 2018-09-20). But these extensions are usually limited to the public sector.
