The government of Suriname has released its annual list of expected bank holidays and non-working public holidays in Suriname dates for the calendar year 2022.
The announced list of 2022 public holidays in Suriname no longer includes the February 25 public holiday that the Minister of the Interior of Suriname, Bronto Somohardjo, pushed to cancel soon after his party came to power at the end of 2020 (2021-02-21, 2021-02-07, 2021-02-03 and 2021-01-12).
These religious and ethnic public holidays are: the August 9 International Day of Indigenous People (2007-08-08), Diwali (2010-10-30), the Feast of Sacrifice (2010-11-13), and Maroons Day (2010-11-24).
