The government of Suriname announced that the upcoming "Chinees Nieuwjaar" (Chinese New Year) annual non-working public holiday in Suriname would be observed on Tuesday, February 1st, 2022, a date which has been declared a non-working public holiday in Suriname.
The aforementioned announcement that the upcoming Chinese New Year would be a public holiday in Suriname, is in line with the expected annual list of expected bank holidays and non-working public holidays in Suriname dates for the calendar year 2022 (2022-01-10).

The Somohardjo decree clarified that, in terms of the Sunday Rest Act (Zondagsrustwet), the 15 days that are to be treated as national holidays are as follows: Good Friday, Easter Monday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, Holi, Diwali, Ied Ul Fitre, Ied Ul Adha, January 1, Chinese New Year, May 1, July 1, August 9, October 10, and November 25.
