The Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine's Parliament) has adopted the Law of Ukraine of 15.03.2022 № 2136-IX ("About the organization of labor relations in the conditions of martial law"), which essentially cancels public holidays in the Ukraine for the duration of martial law.

The aforementioned decree (Про організацію трудових відносин в умовах воєнного стану), in its article 6-6, specifies that "During martial law, the provisions of Article 53 (duration of work on the eve of holidays, non-working days and weekends), parts one of Article 65, parts three - five of Article 67 and Articles 71-73 (holidays and non-working days) of the Code of Laws shall not apply about the work of Ukraine".

The salient articles of the Labour Code that are affected are 71 ("Prohibition of work on weekends"), 72 ("Compensation for work on a day off") which gives rise to days in lieu public holidays, and 73 ("Holidays and non-working days") which lists the annual public holidays observed by the Ukraine.

This amends the previously-released list of 2022 public holidays in the Ukraine (2021-08-26, 2021-08-23 and 2021-07-16).
