Adding QuarkXPress design-time support for Arabic
To add design-time Arabic support to QuarkXPress and Q++Studio:
1.Close QuarkXPress on your workstation.
2.Open the folder Q:\Q++ServerXV4\Setup\Safe_Xtensions\ on the server.
3.Select the ArabicUI Xtension which corresponds to the version of QuarkXPress you wish to install it in (QppArabicUI8.xnt for QuarkXPress 8, QppArabicUI9.xnt for QuarkXPress 9, QppArabicUI10.xnt for QuarkXPress 10, QppArabicUI11.xnt for QuarkXPress 2015, ..., QppArabicUI18.xnt for QuarkXPress 2022).
4.Copy the ArabicUI Xtension, which you have selected, into the \Xtensions\ sub-folder of the QuarkXPress installation folder.
For example, to add design-time Arabic support to QuarkXPress 2022, select the file QppArabicUI18.xnt from the folder Q:\Q++ServerXV4\Setup\Safe_Xtensions\ and copy it to the folder C:\Program Files\Quark\QuarkXPress 2022\XTensions\.
Modifying QuarkXPress files containing Arabic
•The 2 Arabic Tag menu items should only be used at the suggestion of technical support.
•The Reflow Text menu items can be used if you change the font of some Arabic text in your output file and need the font-dependent ligatures to be applied.
•The Reflow Kashidas menu items can be used if you change the font of justified Arabic text in your output file, or change the width of its containing textbox, and need the kashidas to be re-calculated and re-applied.
•The Arabic H&J menu items would be used in a grid to set the H&J of a token whose result should have kashidas.
