29 Aug 2010 (Czech National Bank-Prag) The central bank of the Czech Republic, the Czech National Bank, has announced the twelve bank and public holidays for calendar year 2011 in the Czech Republic.
08 Apr 2010 (Radio Praha-Prague) The 2006 Senatorial Bill to declare Good Friday an official public holiday in the Czech Republic has once again been postponed by the Czech Lower House.
01 Oct 2009 (Czech National Bank-Prag) The central bank of the Czech Republic, the Czech National Bank, has announced the twelve bank and public holidays for calendar year 2010 in the Czech Republic.
21 Sep 2007 (Actualne-Prag) The Czech Senate passed a draft law abolishing some of the traditional public holidays which senators considered either historically obsolete or outright alien. International Women's Day would be cancelled as would Family Day and the Day of Knowledge.
07 Feb 2007 (Radio Praha-Prague) The recent senatorial amendment to add Good Friday to the list of Czech public holidays was not voted upon in the lower house, yesterday.
03 Nov 2006 (Ceske Noviny-Prag) The Senate today again submitted a bill declaring Good Friday national holiday to the Chamber of Deputies and at at the same time proposed that International Women's Day be deleted from the list of Czech special days.

Governing Law: Official public holidays in the Czech Republic are regulated by the 1975 Act to amend the Act of 2 Nov. 1951 respecting the national festival, public holidays, days of remembrance and days of national significance.
Weekend Public Holidays: Public holidays that occur on a weekend remain on that date (ie. they are not moved to another date, such as the following Monday, for example).
New Year's Day (January 1st) is also sometimes referrd to as Czech State Recovery Day, Reconstruction Day, State Restoration Day, and Establishment Day.
Statehood Day (September 28th) is also Saint Wenceslaus Day.
Other commemorated days, although not public holidays, include:
The Day for Remembering the Victims of Holocaust and Preventing Crimes against Humanity (January 27).
International Women’s Day (March 8).
The anniversary of joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organization - NATO (March 12)
The May Uprising of the Czech Nation (May 5).
The Day for Remembering the Victims of the Communist Regime (June 27).
The Day for War Veterans (November 11)
