This is slightly altered for Christmas Day (see below).  Saturday Public Holidays: Although, public holidays occurring on a Saturday are not officially supposed to move to the next Monday, there have been recent cases when this was done, and in some cases, this was announced only 2 days before the actual public holiday .  Although Christmas Day is always celebrated on Dec. 25th, the public holiday or "day off" from work takes place on Tuesday, Dec. 27 when Dec. 25 is a Sunday. Monday the 26th, Boxing Day, is already a public holiday.  Remembrance Day was moved from July 23 to April 25 for 2005 to be celebrated at the same time as ANZAC Day in Australia and New Zealand. It was later thought that Papua New Guinea should have its own day and that ANZAC Day was for Australia and New Zealand to celebrate.  Death of Leading Politicians: The death of leading politicians, active or retired, often results in the last-minute declaration of a national public holiday of mourning .
