Adjacent Public Holidays: Since the summer of 2006, Peru issues annual decrees which usually establish that public sector workers are entitled to the day adjacent to a public holiday, as a day off, while making up the time in the following week. The private sector is encouraged to do the same. The goal of this decree is to encourage internal tourism, through the multiplication of long holiday weekends. |
