15 Feb 2012 (Communiqués de presse de la Présidence de la République d'Haïti-Port-au-Prince) The Office of Communication of the Presidency of Haiti has announced that Haiti's President had issued an Executive Order declaring Monday, February 20, 2012, and Wednesday, February 22, 2012, as additional one-off non-working public holidays to coincide with the upcoming Carnival.

Governing Law: Official public holidays in Haïti are regulated by articles 107-119, in particular 110 and 111, of the Décret du 24 février 1984 actualisant le Code du travail du 12 septembre 1961 as modified by the Loi du jeudi 5 juin 2003 actualisant le Code du travail du 12 septembre 1961.
Working Holidays: The above-mentioned decrees and laws list some holidays as non-working (jours fériés chômés), and some as working holidays (jours fériés non chômés). Both specify that some of the working holidays could, at the President's discretion, be converted to non-working holidays on a case-by-case basis. |
