Chile's Labour Code (Codigo del Trabajo) has been amended in its Article 35 by the inclusion of May 1st as an annual public holiday, "Día Nacional del Trabajo".
Though not officially related, the addition of the May 1st annual public holiday is meant to compensate last year's cancellation of the, September, "Día de la Unidad Nacional", public holiday (06-Mar-2002).
