Two independent political parties, the Fetia Api and the No Oe e te Nunaa, went on record as being prepared not to vote in support of a Temaru government project to replace the June 29 Autonomy Day public holiday with a new annual public holiday on November 20, to be called National Day of Tahiti.
The CESC (Conseil Economique, Social Et Culturel De La Polynésie Française) pronounced itself negatively on this proposal last month (09-Sep-2005).
An amendment has already been tabled, changing the date of this new public holiday from November 20 to the 30th.
