Nigeria Declares April 2 Public Holiday

The Federal Government has declared Monday, April 2, 2007 an additional public holiday in commemoration of Moulud Nabiyu, The Prophet's Birthday.

As per articles 5a to 5d of the current law regulating public holidays in Nigeria, the Public Holidays Act of 1979 (chapter 378), and the Public Holidays Act of 2004 (Cap.P40, Vol.14 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004), no day in lieu is to be given to compensate any public holiday that falls on a Saturday or Sunday.
