The government of the India state of Karnataka (which includes Bangalore) has directed all establishments, public and private, in Karnataka to henceforth declare a holiday annually on November 1st, on the occasion of Kannada Rajyotsava.
Labour minister, B N Bachhe Gowda, and Kannada Development Authority (KDA) chairman, Mukhyamantri Chandru, told reporters that the government had invoked Section 3 of the Karnataka Industrial Establishments (National Festivals) Act 1963 to enforce their decision upon the private sector.
