Azerbaijan's Parliament (the Mejlis) is to consider the draft bill, "On Declaring May 1 Non-Working Day And Workers’ Holiday", which would add May 1st to the list of official public holidays in Azerbaijan.
The bill, inspired by Turkey's recent declaration of May 1st as an official public holiday (23-Apr-2009), has already been presented to Parliament’s standing committee on social policy.
UPDATE: At the end of the day, the Chairman of Azerbaijan's Parliament standing committee on social policy, Hadi Rajabli, announced the the media that the draft law submitted by Panah Huseyn had not been approved.
