Bolivia Declares 2-day Public Holiday For La Paz Bicentennial

(Posted on Sunday, July 12, 2009)

Source: La Prensa (La Paz)

Following a meeting between the Mayor of Bolivia's capital, La Paz, and the President of Bolivia, Evo Morales, it was announced that this year's La Paz departemental public holiday would be extended to 2 days, on the occasion of the bicentennial of La Paz.

The Bicentenario de la Revolución de julio de 1809 public holiday will, in 2009, be observed on Wednesday and Thursday, July 15-16, 2009.

Until this announcement, the principle of extending the July 16, 2009, public holiday for a second day seemed likely, but the most visible proposal was to make July 17 a public holiday (02-Jul-2009).
