The mayor of Bulgaria's capital, Sofia, and unofficial GERB party leader, Boyko Borisov, promised to declare Good Friday as an official public holiday in Bulgaria, should his party win the upcoming June 14 parliamentary elections.
The good Friday referred to is, of course, the Orthodox Good Friday.
Mayor Borisov has, in the past, been a firm proponent of declaring additional, one-off, public holidays (31-May-2007).
